Missions and Global Service

Connecting You with God's Mission

Main Content

For two decades, the Jo Ann Walling Halbert Center for Missions and Global Service has been connecting students with international and local partners engaged in the mission of God. We work with departments and programs across 精东影业 to help students think creatively about how they can live missionally at every stage of their life. We partner with organizations across Abilene and the globe to create cross-cultural opportunities for service and mutual learning with our sisters and brothers in Christ throughout the Kingdom. The Halbert Center for Missions and Global Service complements 精东影业鈥檚 undergraduate and graduate degrees by providing missional opportunities outside the classroom to all 精东影业 students, regardless of major or classification.

For 精东影业 Students to realize our shared purpose in Christ and embrace their role in God鈥檚 story.

Wildcat Academics on Missions (WAM)

Wildcat Academics on Missions (WAM) combines students鈥 academic study with missional living around the globe. Participation in the trip is fully funded by generous donors who believe that 鈥渕issions鈥 does not need to be separate from an individual’s talents, training, and career.

WAM fully integrates mission and service into academic degree plans. In collaboration with departments across campus, teams work on fully-funded projects with an off-site international ministry that culminates in a three week trip to implement the project. WAM is intended for junior level students, although at times others may participate.

  • Up to 6 hours of credit: 1鈥3 hours in their major and 3 hours in Bible.
  • Departmental applications are circulated in July each year. Contact us to learn which departments are participating.

WorldWide Witness (WWW)

WorldWide Witness prepares students for more extended experiences overseas where they work in groups of two or three for a period of 8-10 weeks. WWW offers summer missions internships for students of all majors and classifications. Whichever location you choose, you鈥檒l have the opportunity to work with and be mentored by long-term missionaries and members of the local community using your unique gifts and passions.聽 Experiences take place in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and across the U.S.

In many cases, WWW experiences can fulfill academic internship requirements.

WWW has sent interns to 40+ countries since 2002 (see participating sites). WWW Coordinators have a set of standards each location must meet and expectations they agree to in order for students to be sent there. We also help students with fundraising for these trips (see聽Missions FAQs ). If you are interested in a specific location that you do not see in our past trips, please email us at missions@acu.edu to discuss if we can make it work. We are open to developing new partnerships if a desire or history is strong.聽 If you are a ministry and would like to join with 精东影业 Missions to host WWW interns, please click .

Serve Locally

Local Service Opportunities

Local organizations provide abundant opportunities for students to join God鈥檚 mission in Abilene. You can provide care for the vulnerable, combat poverty, seek justice, and contribute to the healing and flourishing of our community through local non-profits and development projects.

SERVE IN ABILENE

Join a Local Church Family

We strongly encourage students to participate in a local church, where you will grow individually while taking part in God鈥檚 greater mission. A community of Jesus-followers manifesting life together is the literal fulfillment of the Lord鈥檚 prayer: 鈥淵our Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.鈥

Academic Degrees in Missions

For those interested in the academic study of missions, the College of Biblical Studies offers a B.A. in Missions and a B.A. in Ministry and Vocation: Vocational Missions.
